The Sylvia Vlosky Yaschik

Jewish Studies Center

One Jewish community, one 24,000 sq ft. building to call home. Based in the Jewish Studies Center on the corner of Wentworth and Glebe streets in downtown Charleston, CofC Hillel is the only Hillel in the country that operates officially under the auspices of a Jewish Studies Program.

Built with students in mind

One of the many features of our Jewish Studies Center is multiple lounges for students to work, hangout, grab a snack, and kick back between classes.

Our building also features a library, ready for quiet or group studying.

Looking for a quiet place to study?

We have that too! We have two quiet study rooms, both on the 2nd and 3rd floors, perfect to hunker down when deadlines are approaching. Each study room is furnished with comfy seats, tables, white boards, and TV screens to plug in laptops.

State of the art classrooms

Jewish Studies is an interdisciplinary academic program, focusing on the diverse elements of the Jewish tradition while emphasizing innovative and creative approaches. Students study history, religion, thought, literature, culture, and Modern Hebrew, among other things. Jewish Studies courses are taught by professors from a wide variety of disciplines with very different perspectives.
