Did you know that Charleston is one of the oldest active Jewish communities in the United States? That until the Civil War it had the largest Jewish community in the United States? That it is home to the first Reform Synagogue in the United States?

Approximately 10,000 Jews live in Charleston today. With several synagogues, the Jewish Studies Program at the College of Charleston, kosher dining options, and numerous cultural, intellectual, and spiritual activities throughout the year, Jewish life in the greater Charleston area is vibrant and active.
